As part of Billerud’s strategic transformation and preparation for SAP implementation with first roll-out in autumn 2025, we are strengthening our global master data capabilities. To support this journey, we are now looking for a Global Material Master Data & Variant Configuration Expert to take ownership of our global material master data and orchestrate the governance around configurable materials.
About the role
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring high-quality, consistent, and well-governed Material Master Data across Billerud’s end-to-end processes. You will coordinate with multiple global stakeholders who own different attributes of the material master, aligning decisions, defining standards, and ensuring that data remains accurate and compliant.
You will also play a central role in defining and maintaining Variant Configuration in SAP (e.g., characteristics, classes, dependencies), ensuring that our configurable products are represented correctly and function reliably across systems.
You will work closely with business stakeholders, data owners, process experts, and IT teams to maintain global rules, implement improvements, and secure readiness for SAP S/4HANA and SAP MDG.
Your main tasks will be:
Material Master Governance & Quality
· Owns operational governance, data quality, standards enforcement and lifecycle management for material master.
· Maintain and develop global standards, definitions, rules, and templates for material data.
· Operate the New Product Introduction (NPI) process.
· Coordinate and align with stakeholders who own specific material fields and attributes (e.g., Supply Chain, Production, Finance, Sales).
· Ensure compliance with corporate master data governance policies.
Variant Configuration Leadership
· Operate Variant Configuration, maintain characteristics/classes, execute approved changes & monitor quality
· Maintain and govern SAP configuration objects (characteristics, classes, dependencies, variants, configurable materials).
Data Processes & Tools
· Support the design and configuration of SAP MDG processes for Material Master Data and configuration.
· Maintain workflows, rules, and validation logic to secure data quality.
· Participate in testing, validation, and deployment activities during SAP implementation.
You report to:
Manager Global IT Information & Process Governance.
The role is located in Solna, Stockholm, Sweden, and includes occasional international travel (approx. 5%).
To succeed in this position, we believe you have:
· University degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Supply Chain, or related field.
· Solid experience working with Material Master Data in a manufacturing environment.
· Practical experience with SAP ERP (preferably SAP S/4HANA)
· Experience with SAP Variant Configuration (LOVC) or Advanced Variant Configuration (AVC) is a strong advantage.
· Familiarity with SAP MDG or similar master data management tools.
· Good understanding of data governance, data quality principles, and structured ways of working.
· Fluency in English (oral and written); Swedish is a plus.
